Lee continues his epic marathon challenge to fundraise for the Rose Education Foundation.
Lee’s story: June 2021 – Race to the Castle (100k mixed trail ultra) – Saturday 26th
On Saturday 26th June 2021, I took on the Threshold Trail Series – Race to the Castle – a 100km mixed trail run from Kirkharle to Bamburgh Castle in the North East of England. What a challenge it was. 4,000ft of elevation and some great trails made for a tough but really enjoyable experience.
All of the staff involved were brilliant, and the checkpoints were all extremely well-stocked. I lost count of how many bananas I ate (8… 9), and the signage was fantastic throughout, even running in the dark.
I also couldn’t have done it without the support of my family, who met me along the way regularly. Also, a massive thank you to Jen Harrison for keeping me laughing, motivated and stocked with salt tablets, pain killers, oh and bananas. 🤣 Awesome running with you Jen!
My feet (due to the rain and constantly being wet) were in pieces for a few days afterwards; they are finally feeling ok now!
Thank you for all the support, and now onto the next one this coming Sunday, 11th July.
